Updates for Sunday School and Youth Group Families

Sunday School

During COVID-19, Sunday school will meet with 2nd-5th graders when church takes place in the building.  Children will meet upon arrival in the basement and depending on numbers sit 2 at a table. Each child will have their own supplies, wear a mask, and social distance.  After church and Sunday school dismissal, children will meet their parents outside.

The first class will be Sunday, October 18th, 2 weeks after in person worship resumption. Use the form at the bottom of the page to ensure your child(ren) are registered for class.  There will be 2 teachers for the class.  If you would like to volunteer for a teaching role a sign up sheet will be on the bulletin board in the Narthex.

Youth Group

Dear Youth Group Students and Parents,

Have you been wondering what is going on with the Youth Group this year? We were too!!
CLC is pleased to offer *2* Youth Group programs for students this year! We are so blessed to have a large number of students participating this year! See the full (tentative) schedule on the back of the page.

Senior High Youth Group is for students in high school. WELCOME BACK- Starts 10/4!
We will be studying about Unity, the biblical understanding of reconciliation, and living the life of a reconciler. The students should have their confirmation Bibles with them. They will also receive additional information prior to each session on required materials. If anyone doesn’t have their Bible, they can use a different version. We’ll watch videos, read, and discuss in depth how we can make a positive influence in our world through reconciliation. We’ll close with prayers (requests and praises), the Lord’s Prayer, and any announcements.

Junior High Youth Group is for students in 6th grade through 8th grade. WELCOME- Starts 10/25!
We will be studying the New Testament. The goal would be for students to read through the Book of the Bible to be reviewed over the two weeks prior to the lesson. They should use their Hands On Bible that they received from the Church as a part of their Faith Stepping Stones. If anyone doesn’t have one, please let Ashley Rosenberry know and we’ll get you one! We’ll watch a short video summarizing the Book of the Bible and discuss. We’ll close with prayers (requests and praises), the Lord’s Prayer, and any announcements.

Notes: Eventually, we’ll continue with Youth Service Sundays, Youth led Sunday School dates, and activities. More info coming soon!

What to do next:

1.   Please mail back your registration forms— for two reasons!

a. They are required by our Child Protection Policy.
b. We need parent and student email addresses and cell numbers for communications.

2.  Download GroupMe app. We will use this to communicate.
3.  Make sure your students have access to the church Google calendar. They should be able to subscribe to it, if they don’t.

Most of the messages will come from Jill Maxey at (217) 621-0267, she will continue to send information to parents and students via GroupMe. There are two groups per YG, one for parents and one for students. Jill will send the first note out the week of 9/27. You are also welcome to contact her directly.
We are so excited about this opportunity! We certainly hope that you are too!!
If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact any member of the Faith & Family Ministry.

As we reopen this part of our ministry, here are some of the ways we’re working to mitigate contamination. They are much the same as our operations for in person worship.

• When you arrive, head right to your Youth Group Room.
• We will ask all to wear masks. Masks will be provided if you do not have one.
• Hand sanitizer will be provided. Please use it when entering and leaving the room.
• Maintain social distance. Please stay at your table/seat and avoid groups gathering together.
• You are asked to bring your own Bibles. We’ll have individual bags of supplies for you (pens, paper, etc.)
• Bottled water will be available, or you may bring your own drink from home.
• An offering plate will be placed in each classroom.
• Any handouts will be on the tables prior to the start of class.
